Within the forum there is a suggestion from Microsoft Program Management to update a newer release, which will apparently attempt alleviate some of the issues, however not entirely, to ensure you can work effectively please contact our Helpdesk if you are experiencing problems. It would appear from reviews this was possibly a known issue during the beta testing of the OS back in July.

Any Office 2016 apps that you utilise for your day to day tasks will be affected by this and we therefore strongly recommend that if you run Mac systems do not upgrade at present. Some reports are that it only occurs when 2 or more Office 2016 apps are run simultaneously. As soon as one crashes the others follow suit.


Some apps will crash whilst in use and others will be affected as they are coming out of sleep. Though Outlook appears to be causing the main issues.

I have done the first part, Pages now works fine for I put it here in case anyone might want to use the advise. There is no exhaustive list of features that no longer work in the iWork '09 product suite when installed on macOS Sierra. There may be other issues that I have not encountered. Inability to open newer Pages, Numbers, and Keynote documents than those created by iWork '09 applications - unless source documents are first exported to their iWork '09 document equivalents. The Mail Merge panels in Pages '09 may not be complete, but since I do not use Pages '09 for Mail/Data Merge, I could be mistaken. Drag and drop of images from Finder still works. It is now impossible to update to iPhoto 9.6.1, as far as I know, and Photos may not migrate your iPhoto Library without a functional iPhoto v9.6.1 present. If you did not update iPhoto to v9.6.1 by now, then the Toolbar media tool will not show your iPhoto library images. Hyphenation no longer works in Pages '09 v4.3.
